On May 17th, Casino Gran Madrid was the first online casino to receive Spain's online gaming license from the Autonomous Region of Madrid. CGM, known for hosting major poker events, was officially licensed to offer poker, blackjack, slots and roulette games. The CGM received the license a few months in advance of a proposed national online gaming law.
Casino Gran Madrid is scheduled to open its virtual gates and receive customers this summer, as soon as the law comes into effect following the February approval. The website will be powered by Playtech software, with a player management system provided by MediaTech Solutions. The Madrid legal-age residents will be the only customers welcomed at the Casino Gran Madrid.
“Casino Gran Madrid has always been committed to innovation and this time we could not do less. Casino Gran Madrid will continue to operate under one brand because our aim is to leverage synergies for our customers, and remain true to our core values that have guided our performance — professionalism, rigor, experience, transparency, security — and with a software certified by official laboratories,” the director of information systems Jorge Casanova said.
Playtech’s CEO Mor Weizer says he sustains Casino Gran Madrid's enthusiasm and that the company is delighted to have secured the agreement with one of Europe's largest and most respected land based operators. “We expect this to be a significantly value accretive relationship, exemplifying our strategy to increase the number of regulated markets in which we operate,” he added.
