The Welsh player Roberto Romanello entered the final table of the World Poker Tour Bratislava as a chip leader and added the second trophy on his list. Romanello is one of the most successful Welsh poker players and he is currently the 5th on the Wales All Time Money List.
The winner of the European Poker Tour Prague is now on his way to become a Triple Crown winner. The Triple Crown is an honor to celebrate players who won a trophy in each of these three major events: EPT, WPT and WSOP. Currently only two professional players enjoy this high distinction in poker: Gavin Griffin and Roland De Wolfe.
At the WPT Bratislava, Romanello outlasted a field of 210 players over five days to take down the title and the first place prize of €140,685.
He played the heads-up against Mayu Roca and ended up winning the race with his pocket fives against Roca's A-K, when the board came as follows: J-6-8-3-Q.
“I'm very happy. It's been an amazing tournament for me, things seemed to go my way. I played very aggressive from the start,” Romanello said at the end of the tournament.
He said that winning this second bracelet made him hungry to go to Vegas and win the third bracelet, which would be very special for him, being the only player to win the Triple Crown honor in less than a year.
The final table positions and payouts were as follows:
1. Roberto Romanello - €140,685;
2. Mayu Roca - €71,000;
3. Alexander Jager - €42,000;
4. Frank Dollinger - €33,000;
5. Jesper Hoog - €26,000;
6. Chris Williamson - €21,000;
7. Bodo Sbrzesny - €17,000;
8. Marek Tatar - €14,000.
