Swedish pro Michael Tureniec has won the European Poker Tour Copenhagen. The 25-year-old player was crowned the champion at the EPT Copenhagen main event in the Danish Capital, collecting the €496,271 first prize and his first EPT title.
“I’m feeling very happy," Tureniec said. "It’s been a good day. I’m glad I managed to win against such tough opponents. I’m very proud. It’s such a tough field here with a lot of Scandinavian players. My plan now is to first get a driver’s license, then get a nice car.”
The Swedish outlasted a field of 449 players who entered the EPT Copenhagen main event, 141 of whom won their seat on PokerStars.
In 2008, Tureniec, who is a Full Tilt Pro member, had a second-place finish in the EPT London Main Event. The player has now more than $2.5 million in career live tournament earnings.
The Final Table results were:
1. Michael Tureniec, Sweden - €496,271;
2. Per Linde, Sweden - €328,612;
3. John Eames, UK - €187,778;
