Victor Ramdin, a professional poker player member of Team PokerStars, has recently won The Big Event at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California. The player outlasted a field of 417 players over six days to lift the title and the $500,000 first place prize.
Victor Ramdin played the heads-up game against the 2005 World Series Main Event champion, Joe Hachem, who had the chip advantage. But Ramdin managed to double his stack and he soon claimed his first major tournament title since he won the World Poker Tour Foxwoods Poker Classic, in April 2006.
“Yippee its finally over thanks for all your support I beat world champion Joe Hachem [my buddy] to win 5k event at the bike,” Ramdin wrote in a post on his Twitter account.
The victory took Ramdin's career earnings to $3,748,402. The final table results were as follows:
1. Victor Ramdin – $500,000;
2. Joe Hachem – $300,000;
3. Jeremy Ausmus – $190,000;
4. Taylor von Kriegenbergh – $140,000;
5. Bryan Leskowitz – $100,000;
6. Govert Metaal – $75,000;
7. Jose Noronha – $55,000;
8. Santiago Nadal – $35,327.
Victor Ramdin has a philanthropic heart, traveling to Guyana with a team of doctors and doing charity work. In November 2010, he joined Joe Cada and Dennis Phillips in a charity tournament for the Genesis Foundation for Fitness and Tennis Aces in Wichita, Kansas, to help unprivileged kids to participate in fitness activities.
