Erik Seidel is a professional poker player from Las Vegas, member of the Poker Hall of Fame, who won eight World Series of Poker bracelets and a World Poker Tour title.
It has been an amazing beginning of the year for the American player who won more than $3 million from live poker tournaments.
In January 2011 the Hall of Famer has won the Aussie Millions $250K Super High Roller event, after defeating a strong field of 20 experienced players and collected the staggering $2.5 million first place prize. Thanks to this achievement, Seidel moved to the third place on poker's all time money list, with only $57,000 behind the second place ranked Phil Ivey.
“I’m really, really excited to win this. This was very special because it’s such an elite field. The entry fee was so big, I didn’t want to lose $250,000. I’m just having such an amazing month, year so far. It’s just incredible,” Erik Seidel said.
One month later, Erik Seidel won the L.A. Poker Classic $25k High Roller event, winning the $144,570 first place prize and surpassing Phil Ivey on poker's all time money list.
“It’s so easy these days to go through hundreds of thousands just playing tournaments. The fields have grown so much that your wins are bigger these days but sometimes you can go a long while between wins,” said the eight times WSOP bracelet winner.
The 51 year-old player is now closely to capture the top spot on the all time live tournament winnings from Daniel Negreanu over the coming months.
“It's just a freaky streak, a once-in-a-lifetime thing. It's nice to be in contention and it's nice to be around guys like Daniel and Phil, but anyone who is ahead is going to be passed at some point, so it's one of those temporary things. But it's fun to be in there, definitely," Seidel said in an interview.
