PokerStars has recently announced that the Swedish online poker player Isildur1 has joined its Team Pro.
Last year, the mysterious online player became legendary after winning and losing millions of dollars in online poker tournaments. He played seven out of ten largest pots in the online poker history with famous players such as Phil Ivey, Patrik Antonius or Tom Dwan.
“I chose to join PokerStars because it's the biggest site and it will be an exciting challenge. It means a great deal to be playing in a team alongside players such as Daniel Negreanu, Dario Minieri and Johnny Lodden… My goals now are to improve my live game for some upcoming events, continue to focus on no-limit heads-up Hold’em, but also try to develop my Pot Limit Omaha game,” Isildur1 said in the press release.
Many poker fans think Isildur1 is a Scandinavian player called Viktor Blom and that he even played in major live events across the globe. However, the poker world will soon discover Isildur1's true identity, as PokerStars has promised to reveal it to the public before the PokerStars PCA in January.
Soon, Isildur1 will be playing a series of high stakes heads-up matches especially designated for him, in a game format called SuperStar Showdown. Starting from the 19th of December, Isildur1 will defeat his opponents in single sessions of 2,500 hands at stakes no lower than $50/$100.
“It’s not every day that a player like Isildur1 comes along. If you look up the definition of the term ‘phenom’ you’ll see a picture of his face! When he is playing, the poker world takes notice. Hate to overuse the poker term ‘sick’ but Isildur’s no-limit Hold’em game is just that – sick! Few people step up to the plate against him, but the ones who have, universally have respect for his raw talent,” his teammate Daniel Negreanu said.
