The Ukrainian professional poker player, Aleksandr Dovzhenko, has just won the Mediterranean Poker Cup Main Event 2010, after defeating a field of 153 players over three days of play at the five-star Hotel Merit Girne, Crystal Cove, Cyprus.
Winning the Mediterranean Poker Cup title is the second major achievement of Dovzhenko, who was the runner-up player at the EPT Kiev Main Event 2009.
The $2,500 buy-in event attracted 153 players from all across Europe, Ukraine, Russia and the Middle East. Aleksandr Dovzhenko played the heads-up against Russia's Gutkin Maksim, for the 104,700 first place prize.
This is the best tournament I've ever played. I'm glad I won for sure, but the organization all week has been fantastic and the hotel and surroundings are world class. It's a beautiful place and I'm already looking forward to the next Poker Club Management event, said the winner.
