Peter Eastgate's gold and diamond championship bracelet that was put in auction on eBay two weeks ago, found its new buyer after 116 bids. The auction was closed to $147,500, which was the winning bid of an anonymous buyer alias “7***l”.
Peter Eastgate, the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event champion, decided to sell his bracelet and to donate all proceeds from the sale to the US Fund for UNICEF, a children's charity. The 24-year-old player retired from the competitive poker last year, at the age of 24, saying he achieved the financial security that he desired through the game.
Speaking of the reasons for selling his bracelet, Peter Eastgate, whose total live tournament winnings exceed $10,900,000, said:
“I am still extremely proud of my title to this day. But the bracelet itself, I am never wearing, since I really don’t wear any jewelry. So I thought that by giving away the bracelet and watches, a lot more people will hopefully be able to benefit from the items.”
The WSOP bracelet, that was originally listed at $16,000 by the Danish player, is made from 168 grams of 18-karat white gold and 291 diamonds. The identity of the buyer has not been disclosed yet.
