The $5,000 buy-in event took place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Cafe in Hollywood, Florida, where Harrison Gimbel has managed to outlast a total field of 289 players over three days of game.
The 20 year-old South Floridian player, who is still to young to play in most states, collected the $330,000 first place prize after defeating several top players such as: Jason Mercier, Josh Arieh, Allie Prescott, Jeff Madsen, or Joe Serock.
“I wanted to represent South Florida and win it for South Florida,” Gimbel said.
Despite his young age, the 20 year-old poker player is not a stranger to big wins. In January, he took down the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure for a huge win of over $2.2 million. With three first place finishes and four cashes, his live tournament winnings totalize over $2,640,000.
Harrison Gimbel admitted his biggest dream was to compete at the World Series of Poker, but since he has not reached the legal age yet, he will have to wait until 2012. His early October anniversary means he won't be eligible to play in the World Series of Poker until 2012.
“I won’t get to play in the World Series of Poker even next year,” he said in an interview.
The World Poker Tour Florida was the biggest buy-in event ever since Florida changed its poker laws earlier this year.
