Michael MAE9690 Eiler, a German economics student has won the European Poker Tour Vienna, the richest poker tour ever held in Austria. He defeated a tough field of 587 players and entered the final table as the third in chips.
The 20-year-old student qualified for the event through a satellite tournament held by PokerStars, the online poker room which sponsored the Vienna Poker Tour. Eiler plays mainly in online poker tournaments.
It was my first EPT but Im definitely going to play more now. The money is great obviously but the title is worth so much to me; an EPT title is a dream for a poker player, said the lucky winner.
Daniel Negreanu, one of Eiler's final table opponents, dominated the 5,300 buy-in tournament since Day 2. The winner of four WSOP bracelets and two WPT titles entered the final table as the chip leader, with 5,070,000 in chips.
Negreanu entered the European Poker Tour with plenty of hope in his heart he would dearly love to become a Triple Crown Winner, such as Roland de Wolfe and Gavin Griffin, the only two players to have achieved this performance.
