The November Nine is the term used to refer to the final nine players at the Main Event of the World Series Of Poker since 2008. The nine players who will meet at the final table of the 2010 WSOP Main Event will compete for a first place prize of approximately $9 million, the first place title and a WSOP bracelet.
The 2010 WSOP Main Event will take place from 6th to 9th of November 2009 at the Penn and Teller Theater at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
Here are the nine finalists in order of chip counts from highest to lowest:
1. Jonathan Duhamel – 65,975,000;
2. John Dolan – 46,250,000;
3. Joseph Cheong – 23,525,000;
4. John Racener – 19,050,000;
5. Matthew Jarvis – 16,700,000;
6. Filippo Candio – 16,400,000;
7. Michael Mizrachi – 14,450,000;
8. Soi Nguyen – 9,650,000;
9. Jason Senti – 7,625,000.
1. The chip leader, Jonathan Duhamel, is only 22 year-old, but he has already cashed in twice at the WSOP. He won about $37,000 for a 15th place finish in a $1,500 donkament and almost $6,000 for finishing the 50th in the $1,500 six-max event. Also, the French-Canadian finished the 10th at the EPT Duhamel, taking home a prize of €42,800. He played in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and in the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo as well.
Duhamel, who is a former finance student, says he learned how to play poker from his friends.
2. John Dolan, known as JRD312, is a 24 year-old Florida resident. He entered the 2010 WSOP Main Event final table second in chips. He worked as a dealer and he even won some money in the 2007 Casino Employees event. In February 2009, Dolan won the Full Tilt Poker $1k event, taking home about $100,000 and the online PokerStars Sunday Warm Up for $86,000. At the 2010 WSOP Main Event he won the 6th place in the $1,000 No Limit Hold'em tournament, cashing in a prize of $82,804.
3. Joseph Cheong is a 24 year-old professional poker player from La Miranda, California, who entered the final table of the 2010 WSOP Main Event third in chips.
During his still short poker career, Cheong has managed to win a 1st place prize at the Bellagio's Festa al Lago $5,000 No Limit Hold'em event, taking down a prize of $142,635. Joseph Cheong has also registered a second place finish at the EPT London High Roller Turbo event, for a $235,951 prize and a $17,541 prize for taking down the $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em preliminary event at the World Series of Poker Circuit Rincon in San Diego.
4. John Racener is the second most accomplished poker player at the 2010 WSOP main event final table, after Michael Mizrachi. The 24 year-old poker player has more than $1.7 million in lifetime tournament cashes. Despite his young age, Racener has already registered impressive results in live games, including a third place finish in the 2006 WSOP Circuit Championship in Atlantic City for $103,000, a $379,000 win in the 2007 event, or a WPT Borgata finish for a $166,000 win.
In April 2009, Racener took the third place in the Full Tilt Poker $750,000 Guaranteed tournament for a $54,000 win.
5. Matthew Jarvis, the 25 year-old player from Surrey, British Columbia, is the fifth in chips at the 2010 WSOP November Nine table. Jarvis is a self-taught player who began playing poker with his friends after reading poker books. He won several online and live poker tournaments. He finished 11th in the 2008 Coast to Coast Poker Championship, the 8th in the Friday No-Limit Hold'em Tournament, the 3rd in the Pacific Poker Shootout, the 20th in the Deep Stack Extravaganza events, the 11th in the British Columbia Poker Championship, etc.
6. Filippo Candio is a 26 year-old professional poker player from Sardinia, Italy. In 2009 he won the main event of the Italian Poker tour in San Remo for €140,000. He has one important cash in the WSOP in the $1,500 NLHE event, where he finished the 157th. Now he has the biggest chance in his poker career, of taking home at least $811,823.
7. Michael Mizrachi. He is an American professional poker player, the winner of the World Poker Tour 2005 L.A. Poker Classic and the 2010 World Series of Poker $50,000 Players Championship. His total live tournament winnings exceed $9,600,000. Mizrachi has registered 23 cashes in the WSOP events.
If he wins the 2010 WSOP Main Event, Mizrachi will become the only player in history to win the $50k Players Championship and the Main Event in the same year.
Also known as “The Grinder”, Mizrachi's poker career include: one WSOP bracelet, 23 money finishes, two WPT titles, four WPT final tables, and 11 WPT money finishes.
8. Soi Nguyen. The 37 year-old California native player is the oldest, but the less experienced player at the 2010 WSOP Main Event final table. He is a medical supplies distributor, with only four live tournament experiences. He is a very aggressive player, who passed these last months, studying the game, learning about his opponents and about poker strategies.
9. Jason Senti, the 25 year-old player is the last in chips at the 2010 WSOP Main Event final table. Also known as the “PBJaxx”, Senti works as a BlueFirePoker instructor. He has one single cash at the WSOP Heads Up Championship of $17,987. He practiced playing high stakes poker.
The total prize pool of the 2010 World Series Of Poker was of $68,798,600, which is the biggest prize pool in history. $811,823 represents the impressive final table minimum prize. We definitely look forward to seeing the next World Series of Poker champion.
