The 57-year-old man, Ernest Pullen of Bonne Terre, Missouri, has had the luckiest three month period of his life.
In June, Ernest Pullen bought a “100 Million Dollar Blockbuster” Scratchers ticket from his local convenience store and won his first million-dollar prize. Three months later, on September 17, he purchased another two million dollar Mega Monopoly scratchcard winning ticket.
The Associated Press reported that the man had only 1 in 2.28 million chances of winning for each game.
“It’s a pretty amazing coincidence. We’ve had players win big multiple prizes before, but this is the first person to ever win a second million-dollar prize in the history of the Missouri Lottery,” said John Wells of the Missouri Lottery.
Pullen is a retired military man, who was working at the help desk for a telecommunications company before retiring in June, soon after his first big win.
When asked about his strategy, the man said he usually plays lotteries with large prizes, such as Mega Millions and Powerball, and he simply describes himself as a “lucky guy”.
“About six years ago, I had a dream that I won a lot of money. All the numbers I dreamed about, and all my lucky numbers, were on the card,” Pullen said when recalling a dream he had six year ago.
