Argentinian Jose Ignacio Barbero has recently taken down the European Poker Tour London High Roller Event and scooped the £556,000 first place prize. It was the fourth win this year for the Team PokerStars Pro whose live tournament winnings exceed $1.8 million.
The £20,000 buy-in High Roller Event took place at London’s Hilton Metropole and it attracted a top class field of 77 players from all around the world, creating a total prize pool of £1,524,600.
In May 2010, Jose Ignacio Barbero has also won a €40,123 prize at the $1,100 NL Hold'em at the France Poker Series Beaulieu event, a $62,780 prize at the $2,100 Fixed Limit Hold'em Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) event and a $172,900 prize for the finishing the third in the World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) 8-Game High Roller event.
"I'm really happy to have won such a big tournament in Europe. Finishing first in back-to-back LAPT events was fantastic and very tough, but I was desperate to continue that form elsewhere. Now I can say I've beaten a world-class field in Europe – it's a dream come true," said Barbero after winning EPT High Roller, the most important title of his poker career.
