Bwin is one of the major online casino operators which announced their intentions of blocking Canada-based online players. Bwin players received emails in which they were informed on the new regulations. Other top online gambling operators that informed their players on the new regulations include: Casino Club and the Irish gambling company Paddy Power.
Bwin, Casino Club and the Irish gambling company Paddy Power offer their online casino games with downloadable programs developed by Boss Media, but only two of them also offer no-download casino games created by other software groups.
All three gambling operators issued similar messages to their Canadian clients telling them they were required to add Canada on their list of excluded countries. Players were advised to continue to enjoy their favourite games in the Instant Play Casino. Bwin, for example, decided to offer them even a 100 percent Welcome Bonus for the switch.
You will find below two of the online gambling operators' statements which were sent by email:
Casino Club wrote:
“We regret to inform you that due to the new regulations of the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, Loto-Québec and the Atlantic Lottery Corporation, online gaming products in Canada are prohibited. Unfortunately we are required to add Canada to our list of excluded countries. Players from Canada will no longer be permitted to play at Casino Club starting September 24th, 2010.”
Bwin wrote:
“We regret to inform you that, due to the introduction of new regulations, operations of the Download Casino will cease as of 24.09.2010. There is good news, though! You can continue to enjoy your favourite games as normal in the Bwin Instant Play Casino. And to make the transition even sweeter, we'll be offering you a 100 percent Welcome Bonus. Get ready to switch now.”
