The first ever British Poker Awards will be held soon at London's Kensington Close Hotel for honoring some of the poker's top achievers in a number of categories, such as: The Best Cash Player, The Best Overall Player, Best Tournament Player, The Best Online Player, or Best UK Card Room, Best Forum, or Best Contribution to the Development of Poker in the Country.
The prestigious ceremony was initially set to take place at the Fox Poker Club, but due to an increased demand of tickets, the organizers were forced to find another location for the event. The tickets were priced at £39 and include an exclusive cocktail party reception and the chance to meet your favorite player. A special £50 No Limit Hold'em tournament is to follow the ceremony.
The poker playing public had the opportunity to vote for their favorite British players in eight of eleven categories. Two of the three closed categories, Best All Round Player and Best New Player, will be voted on by poker players and the winner of the third category, Player of the Year, will be chosen by the editors.
“We have always wanted to make the British Poker Awards as accessible for the poker playing public as possible,” said Michael Caselli, Editor-In-Chief for Bluff Europe.
“This is like the BAFTA's of poker and we want every poker enthusiasts to be able to experience a slice of the upper echelon of British poker. By hosting the British Poker Awards in a larger venue, we can accommodate more attendees and can, therefore, dramatically lower the ticket price. It a result for everyone involved”, he added.
James Akenhead, Vicky Coren, Marty Wilson, Neil Channing, Tony Kendall, Tony Holden, Ben Roberts and Bambos Xanthos are among the poker pros who have already confirmed their presence at the London's Kensington Close Hotel on September 13.
The inaugural British Poker Awards event is part of the London Poker Festival which started on the 28th of August and it will last until September 28th . The Festival includes more than 100 poker events, including The World Poker Tour London, The English Poker Open, and The World Series of Poker Europe.
