The Berlin County Court of Justice has pronounced the sentence for the four young men accused of robbery during the European Poker Tour Berlin on March 6th.
Although they admitted their involvement in the robbery, the suspects haven't revealed what happened to the money. They refused to give any information regarding the location of the stolen money.
Three of the suspects admitted they have planned the entire robbery, and they agreed to put their plan in action when the security is transferring the money after the EPT day. Their plan changed in the last minute, when the leader of the gang urged them to strike earlier.
On the 6th of March, the four armed men robbed the EPT Berlin, Germany's biggest Poker tournament held at Potsdamer Platz, and run with 240.000 €, of which only 4,000 € have been recovered.
They were all armed with Kalashnikov assault rifles, grenades and machetes. Several people were injured during the robbery.
The 21 year-old suspect received a 3 years 9 months sentence, while the others, aged 19 and 20, received 3 years and 6 months of juvenile detention. Two other suspects, the leaders of the gang, are awaiting trial next month.
